You have a lot of choices today for auto insurance. So many, in fact, that it boggles the mind. So we’ve done the heavy lifting and reviewed the top auto insurers. Here’s how we rank them:
This is important with insurance. You want a company who is stable and rock solid. There are some big names on our list too, some of which have been around a long time. State Farm is the biggest, but I also like Progressive a lot here. They have the time in business (80+ years) to compete with others, plus exceptional growth and rock solid stability.
Winner: State Farm Close second: Progressive
This one is tough, as coverage limits and bundling (combining home/auto/etc.) will dictate rates. That said, Progressive is the only company that says “hey, tell us what YOU want to pay, and we’ll build coverage around that”. I like that.
Winner: Progressive
All of the companies had solid options for discounts. But I felt Progressive had the best options, and combined with “name your own price” makes them a solid winner.
Winner: Progressive
Some companies have local agents, which may make some consumers more comfortable. State Farm had an awful lot near me.
Winner: State Farm
Well, esurance does online only, so you would think they’d take this one. But they don’t. I truly liked Progressive’s a lot – a great form, easy to use, and tons of information. For an older company, Liberty Mutual’s site was rather impressive too, with a nice, old-school form that many people will feel comfortable with.
Winner: Progressive Close second: Liberty Mutual
Progressive is our overall top choice, with State Farm and Liberty Mutual close behind. Any of these companies would be a fine choice for your auto insurance needs.
